Elizabeth Satterfield graduated with her BA in History in 2019. After completing her undergraduate degree, Elizabeth returned to WVU to receive a dual Masters in Public History and Public Administration. She explains, “I decided to stay at WVU because I loved my professors and the course options here. As someone who plans to stay in West Virginia after graduation, I also found it valuable to study here and continue building relationships in the state.” “Her classes focused on working with local communities and challenged her and allowed her to “gain the necessary skills and connections to build a career here in West Virginia.” While in school, Elizabeth worked on many projects throughout the state, including the new William A. Neal Museum of the Health Sciences at WVU and projects and programs that commemorate the bicentennial of Pocahontas County.

After completing her Masters degrees, Elizabeth joined the team at Arthurdale Heritage in Preston County, WV as their Curator and Director of Education which allows her to “create exhibitions, manage archival collections, develop educational programming, preserve historic structures, write grants, and much more.” Elizabeth credits the History Department at WVU for her position which allows her to “do the work I love every day here in West Virginia!”
