HIST 393: Medicine and Epidemic History

Undergraduate History Course Spotlight
This course with Dr. M'bayo explores major epidemics and pandemics from the fourteenth century to the present, from the Bubonic Plague, known as the "Black Death," in Asia and Europe to the recent Ebola epidemic in West Africa. Students will examine how diseases spread across societies, how human mobility shapes transmission, and how communities respond to outbreaks. Through case studies from different regions and time periods, the course connects medical and world history to better understand the social, cultural, and political impacts of disease.
