term "union bosses" to describe the strike organizers i
n an
article published by WCHS 8, a station out of Charleston, WV.
"These are not un-democratic organizations," he
said. "The NEA, AFT are both democratic organizations. They put things
to a vote. They listen to their members. So, this notion that some union bosses
are coming in telling them how to act just doesn't reflect the reality of the
situation."
As the world faces increased security challenges, West Virginia University aspires to raise awareness of human diversity and global security needs through a new collaborative graduate degree.
A new exhibit at
WVU’s Downtown Campus Library looks at the long and vibrant history of
Morgantown’s Sunnyside neighborhood. This exhibit is the result of several semesters of research and collaboration with Professor Jenny Boulware's courses, utilizing research from many students within the history department. Additionally, history major Elizabeth Satterfield worked on Sunnyside research over Summer 2017 as the recipient of a SURE grant.
Krystal Frazier is an assistant professor in the Department of History. Since high school, she has strived to advocate for less vocal, but no less able students and champion the deconstruction of academic boundaries. She carried this momentum into college, where she learned to inspire critical thinking in her classmates.
The WVU Department of History celebrates a very productive 2017. Our faculty and
graduate students published a plethora of field-leading research this year, including
5 book publications and over 27 articles. Check out the list of publications to
see the research produced from our department.
For the final session of graduate colloquium for Fall 2017, WVU History Department welcomed David Langbart, an archivist at the National Archives and Records Administration, NARA II, in College Park, MD. Langbart provided an excellent guide to researching in the National Archives.
