Research Interests
Mr. D'Arpa is interested in the experience of Black soldiers in America's wars, how their service affected their citizenship, how they practiced citizenship, how they connect to larger civil rights history, and how their service is remembered. He is currently working on his dissertation tentatively titled "'Unmindful of Race or Color': Black Soldiers, Citizenship, and Empire in the Spanish-American and Philippine-American Wars."
