Ms. Bonar's master's thesis focused on parishioner labor in the late medieval English parish of Ashburton as evidenced through a consecutive set of churchwardens’ accounts. She searched these accounts for payments made to parishioners for providing physical labor for their parish church. By tracking a core group of laboring parishioners throughout the accounts, she reconstructed these individuals’ roles in creating and maintaining various aspects of the visual culture of their parish.
