Research Interests: I am a second year master’s student working toward an M.A. in history with a concentration in public history. My primary focus is nineteenth century history, with a particular interest in the American Civil War and its legacy. I manage a partnership between the department and the National Park Service to provide research for the NPS Civil War Sesquicentennial websit to be launched in 2010.
My secondary research includes the effect of the mining industry on the cultural landscape of northern West Virginia. As an advocate for historic preservation, I am part of an effort to develop a Miners’ Memorial Park at the local site of a reclaimed mine, Federal No.3 (1920-1954).
