Research Interests: I will be continuing my focus on the Civil War with the WVU graduate program, and will also be working with the National Military Park system as a seasonal ranger. While in the WVU program, I intend to continue studying Antebellum politics and looking at the relationships between the politicians, which would force a war that would result in over 600,000 American deaths. I have previously studied the relationship between Franklin Pierce and Jefferson Davis, which has been mostly overlooked but played a significant role in the dissolution of the Union. The next study I intend to do will be on John Tyler and his role with the secession movement in Virginia and his role with the Confederate Government before his death.
